what is kibera?
Kibera is the largest urban slum in Africa. Almost one million Kenyans live in this neighborhood located in the outskirts of Nairobi.
Most residents of Kibera live on about $1 per day and have no access to electricity, water, proper sanitation or medical assistance.
Education is a key factor to break the cycle of poverty, but most parents cannot afford to pay the basic school fees and kids tend to drop out of school at a very early age, particularly the girls.
