Lycée Français de Los Angeles 7th graders write to their pen friends at the Red Rose School

Brian Edwards, teacher of Class Without Border at the Lycée Français de Los Angeles started with Project Kenya a penpal program between the 7th graders of his classes and 57 middle schoolers at the Red Rose School. The objective is to give his students the opportunity to learn about this part of the world but also a way for them to evaluate the difference of lifestyle between California and Kibera.




We all think we can imagine what it is like to live in a slum because we have seen a documentary or an article about it...but this is only a start. Exchanging with a person helps you experience their everyday challenges and at the same time make real friends if you open your heart.
